This collection of valuable reports has been selected by the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation to assist existing and expanding local companies, as well as those looking to invest in the Windsor-Essex Region.

Regional Wine Report

A regional report developed by the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation (WEEDC), provides recommendations for building and supporting the wine industry. The report was developed over the last year and includes input from a variety of regional partners including Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island, St. Clair College, and the University of Windsor. The report also includes provincial associations such as the Winery & Grower Alliance of Ontario and the Wine Council of Ontario who reviewed and provided input into the data provided.

A Land Use Planning Guide for Businesses

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing has developed A Land Use Planning Guide for Businesses.

The purpose of this guide is to help businesses use the process for planning and developing the use of land in Ontario effectively and efficiently.

The guide is for businesses of all sizes and types that may need approval on a matter related to land-use planning and development. It provides general information about the land-use planning process in Ontario and can help a business determine if it needs professional assistance with approvals or can do the work independently. The guide is designed to be used by businesses as a tool for growing and expanding.

This guide contributes to Ontario's Open for Business initiative. Open for Business is Ontario's program to create faster, smarter and streamlined government-to-business services.

MTDM Diversification Study

Thanks to Ontario Minister of Economic Development and Trade Sandra Pupatello (L-Windsor West), the capabilities and equipment of local manufacturers are being catalogued as a tool for investment, attraction and work opportunities. Also from this effort is the Machine, Tool, Die and Mold (MTDM) Diversification Study highlighting challenges and opportunities for our region. The findings and recommendations in this report will generate local activity to support this vital industry sector.

Highlights include:

  • A primer on Industrial Regional Benefits for the aerospace market
  • A discussion of certifications required to compete in new industries
  • Opportunities in Europe and Canada for local MTDM shops
